STUDYING IN THE European Union (EU) has become more attainable than ever before, as both the EU and the Philippines grow more open in a developing economic relationship.

The upcoming European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) on November 10 at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati will be a testament to the growing mobility of students to and from Europe and the Philippines.

Organized by the EU Delegation in the Philippines, in cooperation with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), EHEF 2016 will feature 39 top-notch universities from Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom.

According to EU Ambassador to the Philippines Franz Jessen, EU schools, with its multitude of academic programs and degrees, supported by their strong emphasis on science and technology, are ideal for Filipinos wanting to undertake their personal academic endeavors.

“EHEF will pave the way for Filipino students to experience these diversified and high quality programs, courses, master’s and doctorate degrees of EU schools and universities. Europe is also welcoming to foreign students from all over the world, social activities are well programmed to make the students feel at home,’’ said Jessen.

According to Juan Roberto Regino, who graduated with a Masters Degree in Business Administraion from the Universidad Catolica San Antonio de Murcia in Spain, younger people and students are more inclined to further their education due to the growing competitiveness of various industries.

“The country is now part of a growing globalization centered on competitiveness, and studying in an EU school will give you that edge. Not that it’s really a must for you to study in an EU school, but the quality of education, learning instruction and materials that EU schools provide will make you a leader in your field or profession, and EHEF is the gateway to that,” said Regino

“Today, especially for us millennials, we won’t settle for an undergrad degree only; we want to further ourselves by learning more and professionalizing our careers, and what not better way to do that than to look into Europe to get high quality education you can use to help back home?” Regino added Mattias Lentz, head of the EU Delegation to the Philippines, said that EHEF is not just a gateway between students and EU schools, but a venue to further dialogue between EU and the Philippines.

“The fair is a platform to showcase all these educational offerings, but at the same time, we want to expand our dialogue with our Filipino partners. The EHEF will also be a good venue for the EU and the Philippines to exchange the techniques and best practices, as well as information on higher education opportunities, and the fair will provide this opportunity, Education, after all, is a two-way learning process, and only through these venues will we bridge cultural divides and have an appreciation between and among our people,” Lentz said.

“EHEF presents all the opportunities that are available for students to choose, and we will be hand-in-hand in providing the most achievable opportunities available. That’s the beauty of EU schools— with a multitude of degrees and courses, if you look and search diligently enough, you’ll be able to find a school that fits your aspirations and capacity—the difficult part now then is being admitted into these EU schools,” said Atty. Lily Milla, Director III for the International Affairs Office of CHED.

EHEF is supported by Philstar.com, Business Mirror and Crossover 105.1. Admission to EHEF is free. Students, faculty and academicians are invited to register early at http://ehef-philippines.com/en/registration or visit www.ehef-philippines.com, for more details, or check EHEF Philippines on Facebook.
